The Joy of Having Godly Role Models

Apr 8, 2018    Justin Marbury    Rejoice, Philippians 2:19-30

There has been a recent wave of high profile Christian leaders falling from their pedestals of leadership due to sexual misconduct and ungodly behavior. These more public examples only add to the personal experiences of many in the church who have been hurt by leaders they "looked up" to. These realities lead many to reject the whole idea that leaders should be role models. But before we thrown the baby out with the bathwater, let's consider the words of the book of Philippians once again. In this particular section of the letter, Paul puts forth two men as examples worth imitating. Perhaps these role models will give us hope and help us to recapture one of the most important God-given purposes for human leadership in the Church: Being a role model.
