Joy in the Pursuit of Holiness
There are people walking around in this world, claiming to be Christians, who believe they never sin anymore. Charles Spurgeon once encountered a man who claimed this king of "perfection." Rather than arguing with the man from Scripture, he came up to him the next day and poured a pitcher of milk on his head. The man responded in a sinful way and Spurgeon proved his point. It's a funny scenario but the idea of sinless perfection is not funny. And the apostle Paul makes it very clear in Philippians 3:12 (also in Romans 7) that perfection was not something that he had attained. But that didn't mean he wasn't striving toward it. Holiness, you see, is a pursuit. It's a pursuit of Christlikeness - a pursuit that will not find it's completion until heaven. And it's a pursuit that every believer in Christ should be engaged in.
